Edward J. Hoban

d. April 21, 2021

April 21: Edward Joseph Hoban, age 67, of Erdenheim passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was the youngest child of the late Edward and Anna Hoban and brother to his late sister Mary Ann Clancy (John). He is survived by Patti (née McKeever), his wife of 41 years; three sons, Patrick (Stephanie), Kevin (Emily), and Michael (Ryane); two grandchildren, Alex and Emma; his niece Maureen Clancy; many members of extended Hoban and McKeever families; and countless friends who knew him as “Uncle Ed”. Specializing in cardiovascular devices and imaging, Ed helped guide countless companies to trial and launch innovative interventional and diagnostic products. His work enabled him to see dozens of countries and share his love of travel with family and friends. Ed had a sweet, dry sense of humor that would always make his audience smile. He was a voracious non-fiction reader, lover of classical movies, and a tremendous griller. A captain of the Roman Catholic High School (‘71) and Textile College (‘75, MBA ‘83) basketball teams, Ed cherished the friendships made during his time spent on the courts of the Palestra, St. Aloysius, Sea Isle, and Avalon. He began summering in Sea Isle City during college and continued to love beach runs, bike rides, late afternoons sitting on the beach, and endless discussions of Philadelphia basketball. For nearly 50 years, his favorite annual event was the “crabbing” trip with his lifelong friends the first weekend of August. Ed will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at 10am at St. Genevieve, 1225 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA 19031. In person attendance for Mass is limited to immediate family only. All others are invited to live-stream Mass online at www.stgensparish.com or https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1JfmyLNbGqiuKx-CtYRMsQ/featured.
