William C. Tier

William C. Tier, known affectionately as Bill, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on October 2, 1949, in Philadelphia, PA, Bill lived a life characterized by his passion for education, commitment to his community, and love for family.

Bill began his academic journey at St. Joseph Prep and later earned a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy followed by a Master's degree in Education from Marquette University. His dedication to shaping young minds was evident in his career, where he taught Special Education for many years within the Milwaukee School District. After returning to his roots in the Philadelphia area, he transitioned to teaching Mathematics at Bishop Neumann High School, where he also took on the role of coaching the Golf Team.

Beyond his professional endeavours, Bill was a staunchly independent individual who cherished his relationships with his siblings. He was not only a great big brother but also a generous uncle to all his nieces and nephew. Bill found joy in the simple pleasures of life, pursuing his love for golf and being a devoted fan of all Philadelphia sports teams.

Bill's family includes his brother, James Tier; sister-in-law, Sarah Tinsley; sister, Mary Claire Magerr; and brother-in-law, Timothy M. Magerr. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Claire Tier; father, William Tier; and brother, Christopher Tier.

Bill's legacy is one of unwavering dedication to education, family, and community, leaving behind cherished memories for all who knew him. His presence will be profoundly missed, and his contributions to those around him will be remembered with great fondness.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday September 3, 2025 at 11AM at John F. Murray Funeral Home, 1220 Bethlehem Pike Flourtown, PA 19031.  Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation from 10-11AM at the funeral home.  Interment will be private.
