William J Smith

William J. Smith age 87, of Jenkintown, PA, son of William Preston and Helen Veronica (Hallahan) Smith, passed away peacefully on January 9th. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Nancy (Carfrey) daughter Nancy Smith Delaney(Joseph) of Princeton, NJ and two grandchildren, Caitlyn and Christopher. He is also survived by his sister Patricia (Pat) Diamond of Southampton, PA and brother Robert (Bobby) Smith of Key Largo, FL and predeceased by his brother Charles (Charlie) Smith of Flourtown, PA. A 1953 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Bill served eight years in the Army, as a member of the 11th Airborne Division, and also as a Reservist. After spending his entire 40 year career in Purchasing Management, Bill retired and enjoyed sailing, travel and antiquing He was also a lifelong member of the Abington Rotary Club, serving a time as President, he volunteered with the Red Cross and was an active parishioner at the Immaculate Conception Church in Jenkintown. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday January 31, 2022 at 12PM at the Olde Church of St Andrew’s, 135 S. Sycamore St. Newtown, PA 18940. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 11AM-12PM at the church. Interment with military honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
