William Thomas Mullen Jr., known lovingly as Bill or Pop, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, in Crozet, Virginia, at the age of 99. He is predeceased by his wife, Anne, and his eldest son, Bill. Born in 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the oldest of seven children born to William Thomas Mullen Sr. and Margaret Lavin Mullen.

Bill lived a long and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and service. He married the love of his life, Anne, in 1950 and they generously adopted seven children over the next decade. Bill was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He took great pride in his family and the generations that followed him. He is survived by his two sisters, Peg and Pat, his sons John, Mike, Tom, and Joe, his daughters Mary Kay and Annemarie, his fifteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was a devout Catholic who began his education at St. John Seminary and later graduated from Saint Joseph’s College. Bill was an unwavering patriot and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in the Second World War. He began a successful business career with his father in the marble importing business. He later branched out on his own and worked in the steel fabrication business before moving to Virginia and running multiple businesses with his family.

Those who knew Bill will remember his steady presence, his devotion to faith and family, and his ability to light up a room with laughter. His legacy is one of love, commitment, and a life well lived.
