Thomas J. Vezzosi, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on October 13, 2025. Born in Philadelphia on October 12, 1947, Tom was a dedicated and hardworking individual. He carried on his family legacy as the Owner and President of Philadelphia Rust Proof Company, Inc., a role that his father held before him. Throughout Tom’s professional career he achieved many industry accolades.
Tom's educational journey began at Seven Dolors School, followed by Springfield High School, culminating in his graduation from the University of Pittsburgh. His thirst for knowledge reflected his love of reading, one of many interests that also included golfing, snow skiing, and spending time camping and rafting during his youth.
His commitment to service was evident during his time in the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served in Vietnam with the U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Five as a Seabee. Enlisting in November 1967, Tom exemplified dedication and duty.
Known for his love, generosity, and kindness, Tom had an innate ability to listen and comfort those around him with his stoic presence. Colleagues and friends alike appreciated his unwavering sense of humor and his remarkable dance moves, which he shared during joyous gatherings.
Throughout his life, Tom cherished the time spent with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Gallagher Vezzosi; daughter Christie Purdy Burns and son-in-law Kevin Burns; grandchildren Brooke and Dylan Burns; son Shane Purdy and daughter-in-law Ani DeBaecke; brother Richard Vezzosi and sister-in-law Martha Vezzosi; brother David Vezzosi and sister-in-law Carmina Cianciulli; niece Anjelica Vezzosi; nephew-in-law Elliot Bickel; as well as several other brother and sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Vezzosi (nee Hummel) and Thomas J. Vezzosi, Sr., who both have left a profound influence on his life and values.
A visitation to celebrate Tom's life will be held on October 24, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM at Our Mother of Consolation Church in Philadelphia, where all are invited to pay their respects and honor his memory.
Tom Vezzosi’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be remembered fondly for his warmth and undeniable spirit.
