Ruth Grove

Ruth Grove (nee Durchsprung) On Saturday, March, 6, 2021, Ruth Grove of Glenside, 92, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side. She was born to Harry and Stella Durchsprung in 1928. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Jeff) Shortridge of Glenside, PA and her son Michael (Judy) Grove of Abington, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul (Bud) of 47 years and her siblings Alice, Thomas, Harry, Herbert and Franklin. Ruth was a resident of Springfield Township for over 70 years and she graduated from Springfield Township High School in 1946 and worked for Bell Telephone in Chestnut Hill where she met the love of her life and they married in 1954. They raised their family in Erdenheim, PA so they could be close to their other family members. She was an active member of her church and senior group and made many wonderful memories with her friends she met along the way. She enjoyed traveling, baking, knitting and sewing. She donated her time, made meals, and knitted many items for those in need. Ruth’s greatest joy in life were her five grandchildren, Nicole, Samantha, Caitlin, Jennifer and Rachel as well as 4 great grandchildren, Sophia, Emily, Owen & Austin and many loving nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held when we can all safely gather together. In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church at 700 East Pennsylvania Avenue, Oreland, PA 19075.
