Father Robert J. Stone, CM passed away at Saint Catherine Laboure infirmary in Germantown (Philadelphia), Pennsylvania on May 5th 2020. Father was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Father Stone served as a Vincentian priest for the last 43 years. He graduated from St. Joseph’s Preparatory Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey in 1968 and Niagara University in 1973. He was ordained a priest at Mary Immaculate Seminary in Northampton Pennsylvania in 1977 by Bishop Joseph McShea, Bishop of Allentown Pennsylvania. Reverend Stone was a church musician who studied at Sant’Anselmo all’Aventino, the Benedictine College in Rome. He served pastorally in the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. and the Archdiocese of Mobile as well as the Dioceses of Brooklyn, Birmingham and Charlotte. He also ministered at The Miraculous Medal Shrine in Philadelphia, and the Mother Seton Shrine in Emmitsburg Maryland and additionally as a member of the faculty at St. Vincent’s Seminary in Boynton Beach Florida. Father Stone is pre-deceased by his parents, Arlene and Robert, as well as his brother Richard. He Is survived by his brothers Thomas and Christopher. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent’s Seminary in Philadelphia at a future date.
