Robert F. “Bob” McAnespey, affectionately known as Bob, Bobby, Bobby Mac, or Mac, passed away on September 15, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on August 28, 1948, Bob grew up in Cheltenham and attended La Salle College High School and La Salle College. He was a proud Oreland resident for nearly 50 years.
He was the beloved husband of Linda, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage, and the loving father of Alison and her husband, Rick. He was especially proud to be a grandfather to Colin, Grace, and Maeve, who brought him great joy.
Bob was a gifted storyteller who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and never felt the need to keep up with technology. Sports were a lifelong passion. He played, refereed, and coached Alison’s teams before cheering on his grandchildren from the stands. Though he no longer officially wore the whistle, he was always ready to offer his opinions to the referees and umpires.
He shared special relationships with his many nieces and nephews and is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Doris McAnespey and Jean (Frank) Romano, and brother-in-law, Glenn Nolfi.
Bob served the City of Philadelphia as a Juvenile Probation Officer and later devoted himself to La Salle College High School and Holy Redeemer Health System. He also volunteered for many years at Holy Martyrs Parish and School, Mount Saint Joseph Academy. His Catholic faith remained an important source of strength and comfort throughout his life. "St. John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us. Live Jesus in our hearts forever."
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 11AM at Holy Martyrs Church, 120 Allison Rd Oreland, PA 19075. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation from 9-11AM at the church. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to La Salle College High School or Mount Saint Joseph Academy HERE in Bob’s memory.
