If you saw the beautiful pink sunrise on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, it was Nancy’s doing from heaven. She gained her wings that morning around 6 am. We were blessed by her love, kindness, and humor - beautiful gifts that she readily shared with all who knew her.
Nancy was born on November 23, 1954 and named Ann Teresa. Like so many Ann’s, her nickname was Nancy. She lived in Springfield Township (Montco) for most of her life and was a proud graduate of the school district. Nancy received a Bachelor’s Degree from Temple University and remained a strong supporter of both schools, including serving on the Springfield Alumni Association Board. Her career took her into the lighting business where she proudly worked on many commercial buildings around the country including the Freedom Tower in New York City.
Nancy loved to spend time with others and to volunteer her time and talents to many organizations, including Our Mother of Consolation PREP and Parish Council, the Alumni Association, Springfield Township Rotary Club, the MacSwiney Club, American Legion Posts 10 and 100, among other organizations.
She loved being outdoors and being active - walking, jogging, gardening, skiing, water aerobics, tennis, pickleball, etc. - and loved going to the NJ shore. Nancy would always be impeccably dressed, especially for a holiday, and always complimented her outfit with her beautiful smile.
Nancy was a lover of life and of people. She was always interested in learning what was occurring in someone’s life and then made you feel special as she always remembered your birthday, your anniversary, or an important life event. The overwhelming comment from everyone was just how nice Nancy was, whether you were a lifelong friend (of which she had many) or a new acquaintance.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, John J McGettigan, and Leona (nee Coyle) McGettigan, and by their first child, John. She is survived by her brother, John, sister-in-law, Hope, niece, Erica, sisters, Kathy and Maureen, and brother-in-law, David Grove. She is also survived by extended family members and close friends who were family to her.
A FUNeral celebration of Nancy will be held on December 10 at Sunnybrook Golf Club, 398 Stenton Avenue, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462 (note Club attire; cocktail preferred, jeans not permitted). Nancy’s family will receive guests while celebrating Nancy with light fare and drinks from 4:30-8 p.m.. Her eulogy will be shared at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Genevieve’s Church, 1225 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA 19031, on December 11, at 10 a.m. A luncheon will follow at the MacSwiney Club, 510 Greenwood Avenue, Jenkintown, PA 19046. Burial will be private.
