Maureen Patricia Hamilton

d. February 9, 2023

Maureen Patricia Hamilton passed away peacefully on February 9, 2023 at the Artman Lutheran Home in Ambler surrounded by her family at the age of 81. Born and raised in Wyndmoor, she lived there until she moved in 2016 to Artman. She accomplished so many things but her greatest gift was her endless caring and love that she shared with so many. She graduated from Gwynedd Mercy Academy with an associates degree in Nursing. She was very proud that she was one of the first to graduate from Gwynedd in their pilot nursing program. She worked at Chestnut Hill Hospital for over 40 years. In addition to spending countless hours training the staff and teaching CPR, she took any opportunity to spend time with her second family. She also would volunteer to help with the “Main Street Fair”, gather for breakfast or luncheons, go to the theater, bus trips to Williamsburg, VA and many other places. Nursing was not just a career for her, it was how she lived her life. From gardening, to cooking, caring for her schnauzers, caring for family, friends and any random person in need. Her love for her father and mother Elsie were boundless and her connection and devotedness to Aunt Dot was something you would have had to see it to believe. She enjoyed spending countless hours and days surf fishing on the beaches of Long Beach Island with her cousin Jack, as well as getting a “Schmitter” at McNally’s when they were at home. Maureen’s warmth and love of people started at a very early age. By introducing herself to the new girl in Wyndmoor, she forged a lifelong friendship with Madalena. Both being only children they formed a sisterhood of shared family time and travel. Maureen loved living life to the fullest and nowhere afforded her better opportunity than her beloved Long Beach Island (better known as LBI). Any chance she got she would be down there. She would teach all of the neighbor children from past and present how to boogie board, body surf and how to fish. She adored all children. She loved to take Madalena’s daughters down when they were children, and when Laura (Madalena’s daughter) had children Maureen was more than happy to continue the tradition. Maureen had a special bond with Samantha who was her God-Daughter. They shared a connection that only required a look for both to burst out laughing. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 16th, 2023 10am at St. Genevieve Church 1225 Bethlehem Pike Flourtown, Pa 19031. Relatives and friends are invited for visitation from 9-10am at the church. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Alliance for a Living Ocean P.O. Box 2250 Long Beach Township, NJ 08008 or Artman Lutheran Home Benevolent Fund 250 N. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, PA 19002.
