Kevin A. Murray, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, great-uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on May 27, 1947, in Germantown, Kevin was the son of James and Helen (Preston) Murray and the brother of James (Carole - deceased) and Brendan (Karen) Murray.
Kevin attended Norwood Academy for grade school and was a proud graduate of St. Joseph’s Prep and St. Joseph’s University. He furthered his education by earning a master’s degree from Temple University. Kevin began his professional journey as a counselor for juveniles in the Pennsylvania Prison System, a role that highlighted his dedication to being a man for and with others. He later enjoyed a successful career as a financial planner with New York Life, where he worked for over 40 years.
Kevin was a devoted husband to Mary (Lavin) Murray and a cherished father to Sean (Jennifer), Michael (Kealy), and Andrew (Erin). His legacy extends to his eight grandchildren, Catherine, Declan, Madeline, Callum, Connor, Silas, Seamus, and Quinn, who were the light of his life. He was also a beloved uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Kevin was passionate about coaching and loved watching his boys play sports, finding immense joy in their athletic achievements and growth. He also cherished vacationing with family and friends on Cape Cod, where he and Mary created lasting memories while raising their boys. Kevin took great joy in visiting his grandchildren in California and Texas, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM on September 4, 2024, at St. Vincent’s Parish in Germantown, followed by a Catholic Mass at 11:00 AM.
Kevin’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his family will be profoundly missed. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Joy Wuenschel Memorial Fund of St. Vincent’s in Kevin’s memory.
