Joseph J. Guckin Jr.

July 13, 1942 — March 21, 2026

Joseph “Joe” Guckin, age 83, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at Chestnut Hill Hospital, surrounded by the love of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandson.

Born on July 13, 1942, in Philadelphia, PA, Joe was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Mary (Hughes) Guckin. He was raised in Philadelphia, where he formed lifelong values rooted in faith, family, and hard work. A proud graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, he went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army from 1963 to 1969.

In 1970, Joe moved to Fort Washington, PA, where he built a beautiful life centered around his family and community. He was a devoted and faithful member of Saint Genevieve’s Catholic Church, where he served as a dedicated Eucharistic Minister. His deep Catholic faith guided him throughout his life and was evident in his kindness, humility, and service to others.

Joe was a hardworking and entrepreneurial man. He founded Penjerdel Refrigeration Corporation and later E-Pak Technology, Inc., leaving behind a legacy of dedication, innovation, and integrity in his professional life.

Above all, Joe was a family man. He shared a loving and enduring marriage with his wife, Margaret “Margie” (Stairiker), since 1962. Together, they built a strong and loving family that was the center of his world. He was a proud and devoted father to Kathleen Givigliano (John), Coleen Velten (Joe), Joseph Guckin (Andrea), and Brian Guckin (Jen).

Joe’s greatest joy came from his role as “Poppy” to his 14 grandchildren—Christopher (Brittany), Daniel (Isabel), Devon, Thomas (Angela), Caroline, Elizabeth, John, Will, Charles, Madeline, James, Collin, Melanie, and Abby. He adored each of them deeply and took immense pride in their lives. He was also blessed with his great-grandson, Luke Thomas, who brought him tremendous happiness.

Joe had a special love for horses, especially his beloved horse, Hobo, who held a cherished place in his heart.

He will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his strong faith, his gentle spirit, and his quiet strength. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication will live on in all who knew him.

Joe will be deeply missed and forever loved.
