Obituary

John Patrick Cafferky, of Flourtown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, at the age of 81. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, John leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, hard work, and unwavering dedication to his family and his faith.

Born on November 29, 1944, in Germantown, Pennsylvania, John was the beloved son of the late Patrick Cafferky and Anne Gilligan. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Cafferky and Joe Cafferky. He is survived by his loving sister, Mary Dowd.

John was the cherished husband of Patricia Ann Cafferky. Married on May 11, 1968, they shared 58 wonderful years together, building a life filled with love, faith, family, friendship, and memorable travels. Their marriage was a true partnership, and John loved his wife dearly.

A devoted father, John is survived by his children: Karen Shea, Kevin Cafferky, Patty Shea and her husband Joe, and Johnnie Cafferky and his wife Colleen. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Joey, Kayla, Sophia, Brogan, Brynleigh, and Cameron. While he achieved much throughout his life, John often said that his greatest accomplishment and source of pride was his amazing grandchildren.

John dedicated more than 30 years of service to Kansas Beef Industries (KBI), where he worked his way up to becoming Shipping and Receiving Manager. He earned the respect of coworkers and employees alike through his leadership, integrity, and strong work ethic.

A faithful parishioner of St. Genevieve Church, John’s Catholic faith was an important part of his life. He was known for his loyalty, kindness, and remarkable sense of humor. Whether sharing a story, a joke, or a word of encouragement, he had a special gift for making people feel welcome and valued.

John was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Phillies and Eagles. He also loved listening to Irish music, spending time with family and friends, and traveling with Patricia, creating memories that they treasured throughout their lives.

Above all else, John was a family man. His love for his wife, children, and grandchildren was evident in everything he did. He taught by example, showing those around him the importance of loyalty, hard work, faith, and unconditional love.

John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Though his presence will be greatly missed, his spirit lives on in the hearts of his family and the many lives he touched.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 10AM at St. Genevieve Church, 1225 Bethlehem Pike Flourtown, PA.  Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing from 9-10AM in the church.  Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
