Jennifer Costello

April 11, 1951 — February 10, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jennifer Lee Costello, (née Margerum), beloved mother to Keely (Eric), Keith (Pretty) and Breana (Jason), Nona to Brett, Dylan, Leo, Luca and Kalaya, and life partner to Rick Block. Jennifer passed peacefully on February 10, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Jennifer was predeceased by her parents, Leroy and Bernice Margerum. Jennifer is survived by her brother, Glenn Margerum.

Jennifer was known for her fierce love and dedication to her family, her kind and gentle spirit, and her nurturing presence to family and friends. As a devoted and caring mother, Jennifer instilled values of integrity and resilience in her children, guiding them with wisdom and grace. She was a pillar of support and a source of endless love, encouragement and laughter. Raising three children on her own for many years, Jennifer never ceased to give her children the world. They have grown into strong adults with families of their own all because of the guidance she provided. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and compassion that will live on through her three children and be passed along to future generations.

As a grandmother, Jennifer showered her five grandchildren with affection and joy, creating many cherished memories. Her silliness with her grandkids made for endless hours of laughter and good times. Whether on the sidelines at a sports game, attending a school concert, hosting a holiday gathering, or flying to California, Nona showed her grandchildren unconditional love.

As a beloved life partner to her fiancé Rick, Jennifer found true love and happiness over these past five years. Together, they created a home filled with love, and lots of laughter thanks to Rick’s goal of making her laugh every single day. Some of their favorite memories include traveling, dining at new restaurants, and taking trips to Broadway in New York City. Rick enjoyed taking Jennifer to her first Eagles game and successfully converted her into a Philadelphia sports fan, watching every game together.

One of Jennifer’s many interests in life was the love she had for animals, most recently her loyal dog, Miles and her ginger cat, Finley. Some of her most proudest moments throughout life included working with animals, from showing dogs at a very young age to becoming a dog trainer later in life. She was extremely fond of pigs, and in the past few years had the opportunity to visit Pig Island in the Bahamas, as well as achieve her lifelong wish of holding baby piglets at a local farm.

Jennifer cherished her many friendships, whether lifelong ones or those that came to her most recently. She was excellent at maintaining contact with her friends both near and far. Phone calls, texts, emails, or special cards were always sent and lunch dates were always scheduled.

Jennifer will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her legacy of love and strength will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her warmth and wisdom were a source of inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of Jennifer’s life will be held at John F. Murray Funeral Home in Flourtown on Thursday, February 15th with a visitation from 10:00 to 12:00 to honor her memory.  Services and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Kennel Club (AKC) Humane Fund (https://akchumanefund.org/Donate) in memory of Jennifer Costello. May she rest in peace, knowing she was loved and cherished by all who knew her.
