Jean Geikler O’Shaughnessy, a devoted mother, cherished Mommom, avid Philly sports fan, Pumpernickel enthusiast and fashion icon of Oreland, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 25th, 2026. She was reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, John; her cherished grandson, Connor; and many other immediate and extended family members.
Born in 1936, Jean was eagerly anticipating the celebration of her 90th birthday this coming fall. Throughout her life, she was known for her unwavering love of family, deep faith, sharp wit, gentle kindness toward everyone she met, and her warm sense of humor that could bring a smile to any gathering.
A woman of profound Catholic faith, Jean found great comfort and strength in prayer. She was deeply devoted to the Blessed Mother and faithfully prayed the Rosary daily (kept one on her at all times). Her faith guided her daily actions and was reflected in her compassion, generosity and steadfast love for family, friends, and neighbors.
In addition to her faith, family was her focus. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Pat, John (Darlene), and Denise (Colin) and as proud Mommom of Laura (Werner), Anthony (Michael), Bridget, Meghan, and Ryan. She leaves behind many sisters- and brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, dear friends and neighbors, each of whom brought her immense joy and were truly the light of her life.
Jean will be remembered for her beautiful singing voice, especially “Danny Boy” and “Ave Maria”. Killing it on the dance floor, dancing the jitterbug with John and for their 46 years of wonderful marriage. She loved sitting on the porch at the beach with a Highball or glass of Chardonnay, watching the waves roll in. Grandkids will never forget her chasing Poppop around the house with the famous spanking spoon after he would dye her hair the “wrong” color, every time. (*note: spanking spoon never used on children). She would also enjoy a sweet treat for breakfast, and a cup of tea to end the night, no matter the weather.
Family and friends are invited to join us in celebrating Jean on Friday, July 3rd, 2026 at Holy Martyrs Church (120 Allison Rd., Oreland, PA, 19075). Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, followed by Catholic Mass at 10:30 am. Interment immediately following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to lunch at Springhouse Tavern in her honor after morning events.
Jean's family hopes that those who knew her will remember her through acts of kindness, a warm cup of tea (or perhaps a stiff drink), a fresh-baked scone, and, above all, by sharing love with one another.
