In Loving Memory of Helen Lorenzo May 4, 1933 – October 1, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our matriarch, Helen Lorenzo (NEE Addario). Helen passed away peacfully on October 1st, with family by her side. Helen was the beloved wife of Dominic Sr. and the cherished mother to Dominic Jr. (LeAnne), Diane Kelly (Bob), David (Betty), Michael (Cathy), Robert (Terri), Steven (Amy), Francis (Christy). She was blessed with 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Dominic Sr., sisters Francis and Marie, her son John and grandchildren Michael Jr., Catie, and Jonathan. She is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many family and friends who were touched by her kindness and love.
Helen, the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Addario, was born on May 4, 1933 and grew up in the Philly’s Grays Ferry neighborhood, surrounded by her siblings Franny, Patsy, Marie, and Frank. She took great pride in her Philly roots and carried the spirit of her city with her wherever she went, especially when it came to mimicking her beloved Mummers with her sisters, brother, and cousins. Music filled her home, and her love for singing and celebration was a constant source of joy for her and her family.
After her marriage she settled in Flourtown on E. Valley Green Road. During her time there she was an avid bowler, loved attending theatre and concerts with her friends and family, She traveled the world with her reading. At night she would often be found dozed off in her favorite tattered old chair with her book of the day. Later in life she was able to travel to her beloved country of Ireland with her friends.
Helen was a woman of deep Catholic faith and spent many Sundays reading scripture at the lectern during Mass at Saint Genevieve where she and Dominic were founding and life long members. Her faith was the foundation of her life, providing her with strength, grace, patience, and a heart full of compassion.
As a mother, having seven children in just 12 years, Helen mastered the art of creating order amidst chaos. Whether it was planning a family gathering, managing a busy household, or helping others in need, she could always find a way to make everything fall into place. Her ability to juggle it all, while maintaining love and patience, was one of her greatest gifts. She nurtured her children with unwavering devotion and raised them with a strong sense of faith, morals, and integrity. As a Nanny, she brought light, joy and endless affection to her grandchildren, creating memories that will live on in our hearts forever.
Helen worked tirelessly to support her family, never shying away from a hard day's work. Often holding down two jobs, she made sure her loved ones had everything they needed. Her dedication to her family was unmatched, and she showed us all the value of hard work, sacrifice, and love.
Though we mourn her passing, we find comfort in knowing that her legacy of steadfast faith, her deep love for her family, the kindness she showed to everyone she encountered and service will continue to inspire us all in our lives and our hearts.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Saint Genevieve Parish, 1225 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA 19031. Friends may call between 9 and 10 AM. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Genevieve Parish or St John’s Hospice.
