Gertrude Rich

Gertrude Short Rich, “Trudy,” passed away peacefully in her home on July 19, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Trudy was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Rich; her parents, Leonard and Helen (Hebding) Short; and her siblings, Nina, Pearl, Helen, Margaret, Leonard, June, Donald, Robert, Edward, and Donna. She is the loving mother of Sharon (Chris Floyd) and Dave (Maureen McSherry-Rich); the devoted Nan to Dana (Derek Schwartz), Seth, Aidan (Bella Beato), and Kieran; and the loyal sister to Shirley Barnes.

Trudy was a proud graduate of Upper Dublin High School. She then went on to work at The Ambler Savings and Loan until she met and married the love of her life, Dear. Trudy dedicated her life to creating a loving home for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time in her pool, soaking up the laughter and sun with her family and friends. She was an incredible cook and baker and for decades loved to host Sunday dinners for her family.

Relatives and friends are invited an evening visitation on Friday, July 25, at the John F. Murray Funeral Home, 1218 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, from 7:00-9:00 pm and a morning visitation on Saturday, July 26 at St. Luke the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 2316 Fairhill Avenue, Glenside from 9:30-10:15 am, followed by a funeral mass on Saturday, July 26 at 10:30 am. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery to follow.
