Gerald Francis Eck

Gerald Francis Eck, 90, passed peacefully into eternal life on July 13, 2026.

Born in Philadelphia on May 21, 1936, Gerald was the beloved son of the late Walter Eck and Gertrude Eck (née Mather). A proud son of Philadelphia, he graduated from West Catholic High School in 1954 and went on to earn his degree from La Salle College in 1958. He enjoyed a long and successful career in the insurance industry, serving as both a respected salesman and executive.

Above all else, Gerald was a man of deep and abiding faith. A lifelong, devoted Catholic, he lived his faith not only through prayer, but through a lifetime of steadfast love and self-sacrifice for his family. He shared sixty-seven years of marriage with his beloved wife, Maureen Theresa Eck (née Casey), whose partnership and love were the foundation of their family.

Together they raised four children, who were the joy and pride of his life: Michael Gerald Eck, Christopher David Eck, Gregory John Eck, and Casey Jane Drucquer. He was the devoted grandfather of Emily Rose Eck, Brendan Christopher Eck, Abaigeal Reese Eck, Kellan Christopher Drucquer, Delaney Grace Drucquer, Finlay Jane Drucquer, and Shanin Gregory Drucquer, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Gerald is also survived by his beloved brother, David Eck.

Although he built a successful professional career, it was family that defined his life. He delighted in gathering loved ones around the table, especially during the holidays when his legendary oysters on the half shell became a cherished family tradition. He had a remarkable gift for bringing people together through the things he loved.

Among his happiest memories were the stories he told—again and again, and always with a smile—of childhood summers spent "up the country" with his siblings. He would recall playing stickball until well after dark, riding donkeys, and enjoying the unforgettable home cooking lovingly prepared by his aunts. Those stories became part of the family's own history, passed from one generation to the next.

Gerald was a lifelong and passionate Philadelphia Phillies fan and an enthusiastic follower of nearly every sport. He loved classic films and could sing nearly every lyric from Frank Sinatra's recordings and the timeless standards of the Great American Songbook—the music of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, and so many others. Those songs, like the stories he loved to tell, became woven into the fabric of family gatherings and enduring memories.

Gerald will be remembered as a man of unwavering faith, quiet generosity, deep conviction, and boundless devotion to those he loved. His life was a testament to the enduring values of faith, family, loyalty, and sacrifice. Though his family mourns his passing, they find comfort in Christ's promise of the Resurrection and give thanks for the extraordinary blessing of his life.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 7, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, where relatives and friends will be received from 9:00 - 9:45 AM. Interment will be private.
