Edward Joseph McGlinchey, Jr., age 88, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, in his home.
Ed was born on October 19, 1937, in South Philadelphia to Edward (Ned) and Regina. During World War II, he lived in West Oak Lane with his mother, grandparents, aunts, and cousins. After the war, his parents moved to Warminster, where his father practiced law. He attended Roman Catholic High School, class of 1955. During his time at Roman, he befriended many, including his future brothers-in-law.
Ed proudly served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne from 1956-1959.
Ed married Peggy (Murphy) on June 6, 1964. His pride and joy was his family. Together, Ed and Peg established a community of friends and raised their family in Oreland, Pennsylvania. While raising four young children, and working at General Accident, Ed earned a degree from LaSalle University. He then attended the Delaware Law School of Widener and graduated in 1977. Ed opened a Law Practice in Oreland, and helped many clients. Ed was a pillar in the community; helping run the Holy Martyrs Carnival, serving as member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, coaching the Oreland Little League and Oreland Mustang Football teams, and serving as a long-time volunteer at Bishop McDevitt High School. Among his greatest qualities were his positivity, kindness, generosity, and, above all, humor. Even in his toughest days, Ed never lost his quick wit and ability to enjoy a laugh.
Ed is survived by his wife Peggy; his children Edward III, Jack (Nini), Megan (Kevin), Tim (Karen), and Katie (Ned); his grandchildren Sean, Tara, Maggie, Emily, Jake, Jack, Tabitha, Cooper, Kiera, Gavin, Gabriel, and T.J.; and siblings Dan (Marny) and Terry (Martha). He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia.
