“

Dolores taught those around her something both simple and rare: to receive people as they are and to love them where they are.

Dolores Elaine (Guinan) Turner, 88, of Ambler, Pennsylvania, went to heaven peacefully on September 29, 2026. Her wonderful life was rooted in faith, family, and a gentle warmth that made people feel welcomed and loved.

Born in Philadelphia on January 7, 1938, to Joseph and Anna Guinan, Dolores grew up in Kensington with her brothers, Joe and Harry, and her sister, Nancy. She attended Visitation BVM School and graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls in 1956.

On St. Patrick’s Day 1954, at a church dance, 16-year-old Dolores met 16-year-old Jack Turner, beginning a tremendous love story that spanned seven decades and 65 years of marriage. They married in June 1960 and raised four children: John, Mary Jo, Jim, and Michael.

For more than four decades, their Fort Washington home on Lafayette Avenue was affectionately known as the “Turner Inn.” Family, friends, and students were always welcome, and Dolores was at the heart of it all, with a listening ear, offering a seat at the table, with a soft-spoken presence that made everyone feel at home.

That same spirit filled their home on Long Beach Island, “Turner Inn II” where meals, stories, laughter, and family traditions carried on. Some came for dinner or a party. Others stayed for days or even years when they needed a place to be. Whoever came through the door was welcomed. Dolores taught those around her something both simple and rare: to receive people as they are and to love them where they are. She taught it not with words, but by living it, every day, for a lifetime. Her family could ask for no greater inheritance.

Dolores’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured being “Mom Mom” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and delighted in watching her family grow. A sincere and gentle soul, Dolores had an inner strength and a natural way of putting people at ease. Her Catholic faith guided her throughout her life. She trusted in God’s goodness and lived that faith through acceptance, generosity, and service to others.

Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, John (Amy), Mary Jo (Ross), Jim (Lisa), and Michael (Meredith); her nine grandchildren, Sean (Clare), Melissa (Fitz), Jeannie (Austin), Kimberly (Tom), Jack (Jackie), Karly, Maggie, Fran, and August; and her nine great-grandchildren, Lyla, Ruby, Penny, Jack, Marigold, Wesley, Bodie, Walker, and Archer.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the 501 at Mattison Estate and Ennoble Hospice for their compassionate care of Dolores and her family.

Family and friends are warmly invited to celebrate Dolores’s life at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Flourtown, Pennsylvania, on Friday, October 30, 2026. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Following Mass, all are welcome to join the family at Flourtown Country Club, 150 McCloskey Road, Flourtown, PA 19031, to share memories, laughter, tears, and the comfort of being together.
