Born on November 9, 1942, in Philadelphia, Mike's journey was marked by humble beginnings, steadfast devotion, and an unwavering sense of humor that brightened the lives of those privileged to know him.

Mike’s early years were shaped among the storied streets of Philadelphia, where he cultivated enduring values and lifelong friendships. A proud graduate of Cardinal Dougherty, Class of 1960, his thirst for knowledge and sense of due diligence led him to LaSalle University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1971. These formative experiences not only instilled in him a remarkable work ethic but also set the foundation for a distinguished professional life.

For 43 years, Mike served as an accountant, a career defined by integrity, precision, and a quiet generosity. He brought thoughtfulness and exactitude to his work, always striving to offer his best to colleagues and clients alike. His dedication to his profession was matched only by his commitment to serving others—a principle that guided every chapter of his life.

Mike’s commitment to country was exemplified by his honorable service in the United States Army. He held the rank of Specialist 4 and served faithfully from April 13, 1964, to April 12, 1970, earning distinction as a Marksman with the M-14 rifle. His military service reflected both courage and a deep sense of responsibility, values that he would carry into every community and family endeavor thereafter.

Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Mike’s true joy and legacy are measured in the warmth of his relationships and the laughter that surrounded him. His love for basketball, both as a passionate player and devoted coach at Saint Genevieve's, shaped many young lives and forged lifelong bonds. Golf was another of Mike’s enduring passions, and his skill on the green earned him golf championships at North Hills Country Club—a source of great pride and camaraderie. Whether shooting hoops, tracking a flawless swing, or testing his luck at the casino, Mike approached every pursuit with enthusiasm and a twinkle in his eye.

Yet, for all his accomplishments, it was Mike’s devotion to family that defined him most deeply. He is survived by Carol Cosgrove, his beloved wife and confidante. Together, they nurtured a home filled with warmth, laughter, and steadfast support. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Amy Bower and her husband Tyson, his son Michael Cosgrove and daughter-in-law Kelly, and his cherished grandchildren: Matthew and Cassidy Cosgrove, Caroline & Kenneth Robinette, and Harrison, Brendan, Ella, Molly, and Charlotte Bower. The enduring strength and unity of this family stand as a testament to Mike’s unfaltering care and sense of humor—a legacy far richer than any tally of years or honors could convey.

Mike is also survived by his sister, Anne Cosgrove, and sister-in-law Elizabeth Cosgrove, who both shared in his joys and sorrows over the years. He is predeceased by his brothers, Paul and Joseph Cosgrove, sisters Marie Cosgrove, and sister-in-law Jeanie Cosgrove, whose memories remain intertwined with his own story.

His generosity extended well beyond his family, as evidenced by his time and energy devoted to volunteering at Saint Joseph's Villa, and his open-hearted approach to every neighbor or friend in need. Mike understood the beauty of giving, the importance of laughter, and the simple power of being present.

As we bid farewell to Mike, we are comforted by the indelible mark he leaves on all who knew him—a man of substance, soul, and great humor, whose every day was a testament to what it means to love deeply, serve faithfully, and live fully.

The Cosgrove family invites friends, loved ones, and all whose lives were touched by Mike to join them in honoring his memory at the forthcoming services. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Genevieve's Church in Flourtown on Tuesday August 11th, 2026 at 10am with a viewing at 9am.

Cyril Thomas Cosgrove’s story is now woven into the fabric of those who go on—his loyal family, grateful friends, and generations to follow. His warmth, integrity, and irrepressible sense of humor will long be treasured in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
