Cynthia L. Bruno

d. March 31, 2021

Cynthia Lynn Nordland Bruno passed away March 31, 2021. She is survived by many members of her large and loving family, including her six children: Crista Lee Lyon (Damion), Jennifer Lynn Bruno (Alwin Klaassen), Cortney Anne Bruno, Carmella Bruno Elmer (Ben), William Jude Bruno, and Jude Thaddeus Bruno, Jr.; her five grandchildren: Owen Thaddeus Elmer, Gabriella Lorine Lyon, Madeline Elizabeth Lyon, Olivia Lynn Elmer, and Liam Bruno Klaassen; her five siblings: Rod Nordland, Gary Nordland, Craig Nordland, and Darlene Bruno, Darrell Nordland; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Lorine Myers Nordland and her aunt Helen June Donovan. Cindy was, above all else, a natural care-taker who found great joy in nurturing her loved ones. She loved skiing, tending her garden, preparing meals to share with family, or rambling through the Wissahickon with her grandson Owen and her beloved pup Guthrie. She was creative and thrifty: she sewed her children’s Halloween costumes and prom dresses, and had a keen eye for spotting second-hand treasures. After her children were grown, she turned her love of skiing into a career as a Ski Patrol Director for Spring Mountain, where she also spent off-seasons leading groups of children and adults on adventures through her self-built geocaching business. Cindy will be remembered for her giving nature, her fierce determination, and her adventurous spirit. These virtues live on through her children, in whom she instilled the courage to express their individuality and a sense of duty to be inclusive and compassionate to those they encounter. Let us honor her by loving one another without judgement, giving freely of our time and resources, and speaking up when witnessing injustices. Due to current circumstances, services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cindy’s name to the Gift of Life: https://support.giftoflifefamilyhouse.org/give/196189/#!/donation/checkout or Friends of the Wissahickon https://fow.org/membership-donations/donate/
