Charlotte M. Rafetto

d. August 18, 2021

Charlotte Meyer Rafetto passed peacefully from this world on Wednesday, August 18th, at Foulkeways retirement home in Gwynedd, Pennsylvania. She was 95 years old. Charlotte leaves behind a legacy of humor, style, hospitality and immense devotion to her friends and family. Her home at 519 Edann Road in Glenside, Pennsylvania was a testament to her flair for interior design and entertaining. The comfort and beauty she created there were enjoyed and admired by all who came to visit and stay. During her time at Foulkeways, Charlotte was loved for her wicked sense of fun and her indomitable spirit. She sang often, accompanied the staff in her wheelchair on their rounds (affectionately known as the “Chairman of the Board”), and had her wine every afternoon at 5:00 pm. Charlotte tended her friends and family as she tended the flowers in her garden, with tenderness, encouragement and a little sternness from time to time. She displayed the same devotion to her children, Reed and Cynthia. During their years at Germantown Academy, Charlotte presided over the PTA and several other committees. Her friendships at GA endured long after her children had graduated. One of her most valued circle of friends were the women in her bookclub, whose association she kept for nearly three decades. Charlotte was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Church in Whitemarsh, Pennsylvania. She served on the Vestry and the Flower Guild. Her church was one of the mainstays of her life, providing solace and joy in equal measure. Charlotte will be remembered for her strength in hard times, her love for her husband, Ray Rafetto, her children and her grandchildren, and for her indomitable spirit, characterized by an infectious laugh, a penchant for fun, a partiality for chocolate and an unparalleled aptitude for indulging herself and those she loved in the finer things in life. Charlotte is survived by her son, Reed Rafetto and her daughter-in-law, Susan Iezzi Rafetto, her daughter, Cynthia Rafetto Kreilick and her son-in-law, T. Scott Kreilick, and three grandchildren, Nicholas Rafetto, Raymond Scott Kreilick and Alyssa Rae Kreilick. Interment is private and will be held at St. Thomas Church in Whitemarsh, Pennsylvania.
