Charles W. Treen, Jr. “Duke”, beloved father of Sandra L. Bloom, M.D. died on October 7, 2017 in his daughter’s home where he had lived for the last decade, surrounded by family and friends after celebrating his 102nd birthday. Up to the day of his death he was filling in his daily crossword puzzles, reading the Philadelphia Inquirer, preparing breakfast, taking care of his cat, feeding the birds, and watching the Phillies. Charles was married to Dorothy Underwood Treen for 65 years before her death in 2005. Before retirement he worked in the audiovisual department of the Philadelphia School District, visiting the schools, making movies for the teachers, and recording key events. He was a member of the Freemasons and while he was still able, devoted his time to service, sports, and his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter and his nephews, Mark Clarke of Atlanta, Georgia, Christopher Clarke of Kintnersville, PA, and Jeremy Clarke of Carlisle, PA. He will be greatly missed. Interment is private. Donations should be made to the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).
