Carol O'Hare

d. February 11, 2021

PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO A FAMILY EMERGENCY, CAROL'S SERVICES WILL BE POSTPONED UNTIL SATURDAY FEBRUARY 27, 2021 AT 11AM. Carol Ann (McCloskey) O’Hare, passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2021, surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Ann and Felix McCloskey, sister Doris Little and her husband, Vern. Carol was the beloved wife of Robert “Bob” O’Hare for 61 years and was the heart of the O’Hare family. She will be dearly missed by Bob, her daughter Kathy Milano, Kathy’s husband Louis and their daughter Samantha, and by her son Mike O’Hare, his wife Susan and their sons Connor and Tim. She was born in Orange, NJ in 1936 and graduated from Our Lady of the Valley High School and Catherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She and Bob raised their family in the Philadelphia area, and the family spent several early years living in Germany. Carol was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, a ‘second mom’ to some and a true friend to many. She was richly blessed with many treasured relationships. She and Bob enjoyed supporting their grandkids in all of their interests and were enthusiastically involved in their lives as they grew older. Carol brought people together and helped family and friends stay connected throughout her lifetime. She never missed a party and was always ready for something new. Carol was an amazing woman - kind, generous, capable and strong. As her family grew older, she successfully pursued various personal and professional interests. She and Bob ran the high school “Good News” program for St. Genevieve’s parish with the help of some wonderful young men and women who remained lifelong friends. She was active in her church community throughout her life, served as an “Associate” of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, and was blessed to be part of a wonderful weekly faith sharing group for the past 21 years. These were a significant source of fulfillment, and strength which allowed Carol to generously serve her community. Her strong faith provided stability and comfort throughout her cancer journey. Carol was Bob’s business manager as he built a consulting business, and continued to work by his side through retirement. She also built a successful Color Me Beautiful and Image Consulting business. She expanded her business to include the Doncaster Clothing line and rose to become a senior regional manager. Carol was the consummate professional, had plenty of style, and helped us all look great in “our colors.” Never one to shy away from adventure, she paddled with the Gung Ho team in the Philadelphia Dragon boat races until age 80 to raise funds for cancer. She spent years traveling with friends to many countries, enjoyed scuba diving in the islands, and family vacations at Lake Hauto. The family would like to thank Carol’s friends and relatives for their love and incredible support during these recent months, which ensured that Carol felt truly cared for and loved. As Carol made her peaceful transition at home, there were no words or goodbyes left unsaid. The family would also like to thank the wonderful and dedicated staff from Asplundh Cancer Center and Abington hospice for their compassion and excellent care. Due to current restrictions, a private funeral mass will be held at Saint Genevieve Church in Flourtown on Saturday, February 27 at 11AM.
