Carl Thurber Jr.

November 1, 1943 — August 29, 2023

Carl Thurber Jr, 79 years old, passed away on August 29, 2023, in Langhorne, PA. He was born to the late Carl Thurber Sr and Laura Thurber. Carl was born on November 1, 1943 in Queens, NY, where he resided until relocating to Pennsylvania with his late wife, Jeanette, who predeceased him. Before retiring from the US Postal Service after 25 years, Carl held various positions, including positions in management, vehicle administration, and as a mail carrier. Carl was a US Naval Veteran, having served 4 years aboard the U.S.S. Little Rock. These years were ones that Carl was very proud of, and he enjoyed sharing many stories about the places he had toured, people he had met, and memories he made in the US military.

Carl was the loving husband to the late Jeanette Thurber, his bride of almost 55 years. While raising his two daughters, Carl was a very active member of the community, coaching CYO sports and running the US Postal Service softball league. As a postal worker, Carl would dress up as Santa Claus every year and deliver presents to all of the children within the neighborhood he served. He took every opportunity to bring joy to those he cherished.

Carl was a gentle giant, a quiet leader, and a devoted husband, father, and poppy. His wife was his pride and joy and together they had a special kind of love. Carl made his way to heaven just six months after her passing. He, without question, died of a broken heart. His family will miss him terribly but find great solace in knowing the beautiful couple are reunited again. Carl is survived by his daughters Michele Schmukler (Rick) and Kerri Massari (Jon); his grandchildren Taylor Simpkins (Brandon), Ryan Schmukler (Kayla Ruiz), Alison Schmukler, Meagan Schmukler, Abigail Massari, and Jack Massari. He is predeceased by his wife and parents.  Services will be held privately.
