Agustin J. Bolanos went to his eternal rest on March 20, 2026, after a brief illness at Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey. He was 89 years old.
Agustin was born June 2, 1936, in Bluefields on the Atlantic coast of Nicaragua. As a boy, he lived all around Nicaragua and Panama. When he was a teenager in the 1950s, he emigrated to Perth Amboy, New Jersey, joining other family members. There, he attended night school, earning his high school degree and studying welding. He also met the love of his life, Catherine Reager. They married in 1961 and lived for many years in Perth Amboy before later relocating to Glenside, Pennsylvania. Agustin and Cathy were married for fifty years until her death in 2011.
Agustin spent his working years as a skilled welder for numerous companies in central Jersey, including Pitney Bowes and Graphic Equipment. He was the epitome of a hard-working man who provided stability and security for his family. He and Cathy had two children, Agustin (spouse of Julia Sneeringer) and Christina (spouse of Richard Rezes). They also had one grandson, Johnny. He passed onto them his eye for art; the many metal objects he made in his spare time have become treasured heirlooms. Agustin was also an animal lover, dogs in particular. Above all, he valued respect for working people, humility, and basic human decency.
