Jessie H. Meininger

Jessie Hallinger Meininger, born April 28, 1924. age 92, died peacefully on Monday, Oct 24th with members of her loving family by her side. Beloved wife of Renton Meininger for 37 years, loving mother to John G Remmey III (Peg) and Mark Hallinger Remmey (Pam) and step mother to Beth Meininger. Jessie cared deeply for her family and was a devoted grandmother to 6 grandchildren, John, Nikki, Wayne, Carolyn, Melissa and Mark Jr. and an active great grandparent to Tracey, Kevin, and John V. Jessie had the blessing of sharing time with many family members and friends throughout her life. She loved life and she loved her family, originated from her close relationship with her sisters and mother. Jessie was the last sibling to pass and is predeceased by sisters Joyce, Marion, Clara and brothers Godfrey and Potter. She was a wonderful and loving aunt to many adult nieces and nephews, who she visited with often. Jessie graduated from Abington High school 1943, where she played on the tennis, field hockey and basketball teams. She attended Mary Washington College, Virginia. Graduated from Kansas Radio school in Kansas City, Missouri. Was an Airline hostess for Eastern Airlines 1945 – 47. She married John G Remmey Jr and had two sons, John and Mark. Later in life, she worked for IMS Health. Jessie lived an active life, gardening, playing tennis, dancing, traveling, swimming, playing bridge, going to the beach and bike riding. Most of all, Jessie loved spending time with Ren and her family, often hosting family dinners, birthday parties, and holiday celebrations. She enjoyed cheering for her grandchildren (and great grandchildren) at all of their sporting events and performances. She was blessed to be able to continue all of these activities into her late 80’s and most into her 90’s. This past summer, she was able to go in the ocean, swim in her backyard pool, play bridge, ride her bicycle, and even planned and hosted a surprise (those were the best!) birthday party for over 25 people. Socially, Jessie was a very active member of Buckingham Racquet club and Warrington Garden Club. She was also a member of Doylestown Presbyterian Church and often lent a hand in various community charities. Earlier in her life, Jessie was a member of Germantown Cricket Club where she enjoyed playing squash and tennis on the teams competitively. Throughout her life and to the end, Jessie was positive, grateful, brave, surprising and often very funny. She was the life of the party! Services will be on Saturday, Oct 29th at 11:00 at Doylestown Presbyterian Church. Visitation from 10:00. Luncheon after for family and friends.
