ABOUT US

Our Beginnings

John F. Murray, 1909-1976, opened the Funeral Home in the East Germantown section of Phila.
John graduated from Roman Catholic High in 1929 then attended Dolans Embalming College. Before starting his own practice, he married Julia McEntee. They raised 9 children, 8 boys and 1 girl.

John opened his Funeral Home in Germantown in 1936. He provided many years of service to the community and in 1975, his son Dennis entered into the business. Dennis continued the business after John passed away in 1976.

In October of 1980, the Funeral Home was moved from Germantown to our current location in Flourtown where we continue to provide meaningful funerals to our families.

In 2002, Dennis' son Dennis A. Murray Jr. joined the family business as a licensed funeral director and will continue the business as the firm's third generation of family funeral directors.

Today, Dennis Sr. and Dennis Jr. are committed to providing personal service to the families they serve, the same way John F. Murray had provided since 1936.

Although funeral service has seen many changes over the years, one thing that has remained constant at Murray Funeral Home is our commitment to caring, and treating each family as if they were our own family.
